Ear Tubes?

Little Sister is sick again! Over the past two years, she has had many colds and upper respiratory illnesses, especially ear infections. Now, one of the doctor's in her pediatrician's office has recommended ear tubes. I want to talk with her primary pediatrician first to see what is involved, and if this procedure is needed. If you have any advice on the subject, please let me know. Thanks!

Ashley

Two of my boys had tubes and it made all the difference! I would do it.

My one son had tubes and I so wish we had done it sooner. It made a huge difference. We virtually stopped having ear infections.

Our little neighbor boy is going through the same thing and he is only 1 1/2. He has constant ear infections and his doctor recommended it. It is not an uncommon need for children and is necessary if there are repetitive problems. Have you taken her to an ENT? If not, you may want to see one to get another opinion.

Our little ones have never had ear infections but they have strep this week and it is the 6th time this year! Yuck! Praying for her.

Merry Christmas! My brother had them waayyy back when. He had speech issues and within weeks of getting his tubes we could understand him! It was amazing.

When a friend of ours had issues with her son, I did some research and found that some kids with recurrent ear infections had dairy allergies. Some who cut out dairy products were able to avoid the surgery.

We've had very few ear infections here but the ones we've had were horrible. Poor Little Sister :-( I pray she recovers quickly.

I don't know anything about ear tubes...but have you tried Echinacea? It is herbal ...comes from the cone flower (a big pink daisy like plant). It is safe for adults and children and it helps to build the immune system ...you can take it for ten days on ten days off....your local natural food store would have it. They should carry a variety for children, though the adult one would be fine too. It comes in a liquid and you can give it by droppers full....a little bit like black licorice (did I spell that right?)

Have you tried garlic oil drops for her ear? (you can make it your self...take olive oil and a good handful of fresh peeled whole garlic cloves...warm it gently over a double boiler...or put a bowl into a larger pot...heat over low for an hour. Pour all into a clean glass jar...keep in your fridge. Warm a little when needed and add by dropper into ears. Do one ear at a time, have them lay down on a towel (for drips) and let each ear hold the oil for 15 minutes or so. My kids love this, as it helps right away! (Garlic is a natural antibiotic and the warmth of the oil helps to ease the pain).
